Big-band radio

Big-band music brings together brass, reed instruments and a rhythm section in a large ensemble. Arranged passages, exchanges between sections and space for soloists give it a different scale from small-group jazz. For listeners drawn to an orchestral jazz sound, the appeal lies as much in the ensemble arrangements as in individual performances.
