About the station
Malvern Radio JRS - Pumpkin FM broadcasts online (London, United Kingdom). The broadcast language is English. Its format and main topics include big-band music and swing.
Big bands and swing
Big-band arrangements and swing rhythms connect a large ensemble sound with a buoyant dance feel. Brass and reeds can answer one another while the rhythm section holds the music together, with room for a featured solo or voice. This combination points toward orchestral jazz textures, rather than treating all older recordings as one undifferentiated oldies category.
