Smooth Jazz radio

Smooth jazz places accessible melodies and a polished ensemble sound ahead of the more angular rhythms and extended improvisation associated with some other jazz styles. Saxophone, guitar and keyboards are common voices in the format. It is a direction worth exploring for melodic jazz listening, without assuming that every selection is instrumental or slow.

Swing radio

Swing is associated with a buoyant rhythmic feel, melodic phrasing and a close connection with dance. It can be played by large orchestras or smaller groups, so the label describes a musical approach rather than a fixed ensemble size. Listen for the way the rhythm section supports the melody and the interplay between musicians.
